Women's Spring Opener

The Nittany Lions saw major growth this past weekend at their spring opener in Washington, D.C.. The team stepped up and showed tremendous improvement since the fall.

Saturday's first game resulted in a 26-0 loss to the Capital Selects - a women's mid-atlantic all-star team based out of D.C..  Being the first game back, it took a couple hits for the Nittany Lions to get back into the swing of things. This match was followed by close loss of 17-7 to USA South, another women's all-star team based out of Atlanta, GA. In this game, the Nittany Lions tweaked their mistakes from their first match overall and played a better game.

PSU Women's Rugby - 2019 Fall Recap

University  Park, PA - The women’s team finished the season 7-4; 5-0 in the Big Ten, earning and retaining their 8th consecutive B1G championship!  The Nittany Lions fielded 20 new players this fall, 15 whom played their very first games of rugby. This made winning the B1G particularly special as it was accomplished in large part by a quickly developing, inexperienced group that was led by a very small group of upperclassmen.

The team did not fare as well against out-of-conference opponents going 0-2 against D1 Elite teams Life and Lindenwood and 1-2 against NIRA opponents, Army, Quinnipiac and Notre Dame College.
