Lion Family Small Businesses

Todd Buelow ‘96 and his family’s company Bella Tunno (click here) sells baby products. Here’s how Bella Tunno makes a difference every day: For every product they sell they buy a meal for a child. To date, they have bought over 4 million meals. Last week, Good Morning America featured them and, through those sales, they were able to donate over 150,000 meals. Almost 99% of the company’s sales are through retail stores, so they are relying on online sales right now. Todd expressed his thanks to everyone supporting small businesses! Read more about how they’re giving back by clicking here!

Wes “Showdub” Showalter ’12 has transitioned his personal training business to an online model for the time being. Wes is a NSCA-Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and has certifications including Russian Kettlebell - Level 2 Instructor, Functional Strength Coach Level 2, Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist, and Onnit Kettlebell Specialist. No equipment? No problem! As a client of Wes (I’m a physical therapist who needs to be ready to work with neurological patients post-maternity leave), I can tell you that his ability to address your goals and limitations while also giving cues to perfect your form is unmatched. Contact Wes at 814-883-8452/ This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.This email address is being protected from spambots. Shawn Crago ‘92 is the owner of Patrick's Pub and Grille (click here) located outside Pittsburgh. After his teammate Howard Goldfine made the recommendation to support Crago during this tough time for restaurants, the PSU Rugby Family followed suit by making donations to pay for meals for essential employees. Below are just a few of the many meal drop offs sponsored by PSU Rugby. Get a giftcard by mail by calling (724) 457-9770 or reach out to let him know that you’re interested in donating meals to front line workers in the Pittsburgh area!

Tom (’95) & Kelley Trosko own Doggie’s Pub (click here) in State College. The construction of their kitchen has been halted by the shut down so they do not have food sales yet. The good news is that gift cards are good for anything they offer once they are back open. You can purchase the gift cards online and you can either print them out or we can scan the QR code on your phone by clicking HERE.

Setter Ridge Vineyards (click here) is owned and operated by the family of alum and former board member Anne Marie Blair Boccuti ’09. They are currently open Saturdays & Sundays, 11am to 5pm for take out orders only. They’re also offering online purchases with shipping within Pennsylvania only. They hope to be able to expand their shipping options soon!

If you're in the market for running shoes you can support the small business of Karley McVerry Weidner’s ‘08 Aunt by shopping at The Sneaker Shop which is located in Ocean City, NJ. You can check out their Facebook page (click here) or email Janet at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Jake Feury (brother of Tess and son of KJ & Tom – avid PSU Rugby supporters) opened Stretch Recovery Lounge (click here) in Ridgewood, NJ and has had to close due to Covid. Stretch Recovery Lounge is a practioner assisted recovery facility that focuses on methods such as stretching, cupping, deep tissue massage and compression therapy. He is currently offering virtual 1-on-1 stretching sessions in order to try to keep his business going. The sessions are 30 minutes long and can be tailored to the customer based on equipment and needs - perfect for athletes or anyone dealing with pain or tightness. You can reach Jake directly by calling or texting 973-840-9933.

Trapped in the house with your toddlers/babies and looking for something fun to do with them? Check out Mister John’s Music’s YouTube Channel (click here). Based in Philadelphia’s Italian Market, Mr. John’s provides music classes for all ages. Staff member Ms. Lilly helped Alumni Matt and Kristen Miller create a very special memory. Matt’s sister Emily was supposed to get married on May 2 so they surprised her and her fiancé by having Ms. Lilly play their first dance song outside their window. Ms. Lilly only asked for a donation so they would be able to keep the YouTube content free for the families they miss so much. You can support them by following them on Facebook (click here) and YouTube (click here) and by liking and sharing their content!
