On Saturday, September 23, the Nittany Lions were on the road yet again. This time to St. Bonaventure, NY for round 2 of Rugby East league play. The team put in a tough week of training and felt prepared for the match.

After a slightly shaky start, which saw the team down 3-0 very early, they were able to settle down, find a rhythm and, thanks to a Brian Stella-led counter attack, were able to respond with a 5-pointer. In a game that seemed marred by multiple infringements at the breakdown for both sides it was tough to get anything moving. But the Lions were able to find space and work some really nice phases spreading the scoring out nicely throughout the team

While they were able to put up an impressive 61-23 score line, the Lions were not happy with the performance and will be looking to give up fewer points per game going forward.

Man of The Match this weekend went to another front rower, hooker Thomas Capriotti, who was great on the day as he set up a beautiful try off of a turnover and scored one on his own.

The Team will play their first home match on September 30, hosting Kutztown University at 1pm on West Campus.

The 2nd XV seem to be hitting their stride after a tough match last weekend. Connor Dellapina did well to run the attack in the backs and Ryan Cornell, the Captain and forward leader, was great up front.

It is never an easy task to keep any team scoreless but the Lions managed to do that. Even with a few threatening runs from Bonnies, the team was steady in defense and kept them out of the in-goal. Pete Jean playing in the centers this week was very impressive on the day, generating plenty of go-forward and scoring 4 tries.

Man of the Match for the 2nd XV went to Kevin Olsen who was instrumental in both attack and defense.

Try Scorers: Jean x4, Pailhol, Ndou, Robins-Cole Team Score
Conversions: Dellapina 3 of 8
